You say you don’t add chemicals to your soap but what is Sodium Hydroxide (Lye)?
Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) is used in the process of making soap. Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) is mixed with water and then added to the oil, the chemical reaction that occurs (saponification) between the lye solution and the oil is what forms soap. As this reaction occurs and the following curing process (storing soap for 4-6 weeks), all the Sodium Hydroxide dissipates and all that is left is soap.
We do not add any other chemicals, additives or parabens to our soap, so all that is left is 100% Olive Oil soap.
Why is Olive Oil Soap got for my skin?
Olive Oil contains vitamins A, D, K and E and fatty acids, all great for the skin. Olive Oil can moisturise and nourish your skin. Many people that have dry skin use olive oil soap to help with this. Olive Oil Soap can be used for all skin types. Olive Oil is hypoallergenic, so you won’t get nasty skin reactions.
All our soaps are 100% Olive Oil, with different essential oils added for scent.
Why does my Olive Oil Soap get soft on a flat soap dish?
If Olive Oil bar soap is left on a flat wet surface, it will get soft and not last as long. It is best to keep the soap on a ridged soap rack or bamboo soap rack. This will allow the soap to drain and dry after use and will make your soap last a lot longer.
Does your liquid soap contain the same ingredients as your bar soap?
Mostly yes, obviously for liquid soap there is more water in it but is essentially made from our 100% Olive Oil Soap blocks which are still handmade. All the goodness from our bar soap, just in liquid form.
Do you do soap making workshops?
Yes, we conduct soap making workshops. The standard workshop is 3.5 hours, during this time you will be guided in making your own olive oil soap. Once completed, you get to take this home (to set and then cut yourself in a few days). You will get instructions as well, so you can make your own soap anytime.
I have dry skin, will your soap help?
It should do, everyone has different skin types and different reactions to different products. A lot of people that have dry skin, eczema etc have used our soap and have found our olive oil soap helps with their skin conditions. We don’t lay claim to clinical tests just from what our customers have said. All we can say is that our soap, is just that, pure soap, made from 100% extra virgin olive oil and organic essential oils, along with white clay, yellow clay and activated charcoal depending on the variety of soap – we add no chemical fillers or parabens.
